A Better-Late-than-Never Season Opening, from our Club Director

A Better-Late-than-Never Season Opening, from our Club Director

In traditional mediterranean (where feta comes from) fashion …

a late opening message for our 2024/25 season.

I was told off for being late on this.

Where I come from, they conveniently allow buffer time to any recurring celebration, by tradition. I leave you do the guess work regarding my birth whereabouts. Strike out the Nordic countries …

Anyways, to cover either for my busyness (does my nose looks bigger?) or my poor time management (where truth sets me free), I will happily claim my birthright time buffer.

No more intros.

Aim to read onwards in one breath.

We have already embarked on what we anticipate to be another exciting season of growth, with more members (closing to 140 and quite a few waiting in the lobby), more teams (proudly registered our Under-16 girls for the first time), more engagement with our local community (via our Boroughs and our Active Partnership, London Sport) and England Handball, more volunteers (internal, as well as external – for the first time), more volunteering opportunities at all levels (to cover for our growing needs), more external independent validation of our safeguarding, our management, our finances.

More and more, to realise our journey of growing for the long term, and improve how we do things, become a trusted partner to all we engage with, so that we can continue to offer handball to our diverse community in the heart of London, in the most open manner possible.

Handball is in strong demand within London.

Our vision is, with the support of England Handball and the London Handball Community, to meet that demand, so that the amazing sport of Handball becomes mainstream in our locality, realising the benefits of team sports to the masses and delivering on England Handball’s strategy The Ascent, and Sport England’s strategy of Uniting the Movement.

We have the bar for ourselves high, for another season. This way, we don’t risk hitting our head on the bar …

To all of our members, parents/guardians who decided to share the journey with us, to all of our volunteers who make things happen (I get corrected more often than ever, which is a metric of … delegation success), to our friends and supporters / followers, to our partners, to our fellow handball clubs.

See you in 3D in our courts and in the nearby pubs, in 2D in the virtual platforms of our sport forums and live streams, in the ever-stronger-beating handball community whereabouts.

To Win Some or Learn Some.

Cause …

In a loud singing voice, please, do it like Jason Mraz

This is our fate, We’re yours!

And, in club fashion …

In a loud no-singing voice

We are Chelsea!!!

Take care & C U in Court 🙂
